About the Journal

Aegean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AEJOG) is an open-access journal. AEJOG, publishing a broad range of all type articles about all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology. It is a double-blind peer-reviewed independent international journal printed in the English language. The target audience of this journal is obstetrician, gynecologists and all researchers interested in gynecology practice.

The primary aim of Aegean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology is to publish high-quality original research articles about all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology and gynecology and women's health including maternal-fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology and infertility/reproductive endocrinology. In addition, case reports, review articles and letters to editors are welcome. AEJOG will give publication priority to original research articles over others. 

Aegean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Editorial Board meet the criteria of the International Council of Medical Editors (ICMJE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) and the Publication Ethics Commission (COPE).

Publication frequency

The journal is published three times in a year (April, August, December)

Publication Charges

No submission, processing, page, coloured figures or publication charges are received from authors. All articles are freely available as early online and on the day of publication on the journal’s website. AEJOG articles are Open Access and fully compliant with funder OA mandates.

Plagiarism

This statement is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal EditorsGuidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

AEJOG editors have the right to expect that a submitted article has not plagiarism and also does not violate the journal's copyright rules. All submissions will be checked with plagiarism software (one of iThenticate or Turnitin) in 2 stages: New Submission and After Acceptance. Authors must acknowledge that their articles are subject to plagiarism screening when they submit to AEJOG.

AEJOG Editorial Board members accept all terms and conditions of COPE about plagiarism. In case, detection any attempt of plagiarism, under/over citation, and data falsification/fabrication, or is brought to our attention accompanied with convincing evidence, we act based on flowcharts and workflows determined in COPE.

Publication Ethics

Compliance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki is accepted as a policy by Aegean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Please ensure that all research reported in the papers presented is ethically and responsibly conducted. All articles reporting in vivo or clinical trials on humans or animals should include a written statement in the Methods section. This should explain that all studies are performed with the official approval of the local human subject or animal care committees (institutional and national) and that clinical studies are recorded as required by the legislation. Authors who do not have an official ethics review committee should declare that their study follows the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki.

Open Access Policy and Common User Licenses 

AEJOG is an open-access journal which means that through the internet; freely accessible, readable, downloaded, copied, distributed, printed, scanned, linked to full texts, indexed, transferred to the software as data and used for any legal purpose, without financial, legal and technical obstacles. The only authority on reproduction and distribution and the sole copyright role in this field; has been given to authors therefore they can have control over the integrity of their work, so that they are properly recognized and cited. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

The content in Aegean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AEJOG) is protected by copyright. Copyright protection applies automatically to any original work as soon as it is written down or put into a permanent or fixed form. When an article is published on AEJOG, it is read and reused for free as soon as it is published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 (CC BY NC 4.0) license.

Consent

All authors should follow ICMJE requirements on privacy and informed consent of patients or study participants. Please confirm that any patient or participant (or his or her parent or legal guardian) involved in any research or clinical trial described in your article gives written consent to the inclusion of material about yourself and completely anonymises them. Where someone is deceased, please ensure you have written consent from the family. Authors may use this Patient Consent Form, which should be completed, saved, and sent to the journal if requested.

Health and Safety

Please ensure that mandatory health and safety procedures are performed during the experimental study reported in your article and your manuscript contains all warnings about hazards that may carry out the tests or procedures you report or may be included in instructions, materials or formulas. Please follow all safety precautions and cite any established standard.

In experimental animal studies, the authors should indicate that the procedures followed were in accordance with animal rights as per the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and they should obtain animal ethics committee approval.

Archiving Policy

LOCKSS and CLOCKSS systems have permission to collect, preserve, and serve this Archival Unit.

Peer review

Aegean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology operates a double-blind peer-review process which means both reviewer and author identities concealed from each other. When an article is submitted to the journal, the Editor-in-Chief or editors briefly review the article to verify its relevance to the aims, scope, and style of AEJOG. If appropriate, the paper is sent to section editors and minimum of two independent reviewers for evaluating the scientific quality of the paper. The Editor-in-chief or editors is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles.

The whole review process depends on receiving reviewer comments and revising the manuscript by the author based on these comments and may be ended a month. In recent days this process ended at 10 to 15 days.
